When the Istanbul-based brand Nishane started its perfume production, it was with a special variant of cologne - the so-called "extrait de colognes", with an 18 percent concentration of essences. They were created as a modernized homage to the ancient Turkish tradition of giving guests a bottle of citrus-based cologne (often made from lemon) as a sign of hospitality. Here, the original cologne's citrus notes of bergamot and lemon have been updated with floral notes and delightfully spicy saffron, creating a darker, exotic character and also giving the cologne depth and longevity.
